IT/Tech and Data Protection

Advisers on complex IT law, data protection and digital compliance

Technology is reshaping how businesses operate, transact and manage risk. At Ascente, our IT/Tech and Data Protection team advises clients at all stages of the digital lifecycle; from structuring complex IT agreements and cloud solutions to navigating the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape of data privacy, AI governance, cybersecurity and digital compliance.

We advise on the full spectrum of IT and digital legal matters. This includes drafting, negotiating and reviewing IT agreements, outsourcing and cloud contracts, software licensing, SaaS arrangements and technology procurement. We also counsel clients on regulatory compliance under the GDPR, the AI Act, NIS2, the Data Act and related frameworks. This includes data protection impact assessments, cross-border data transfers, incident responses and supervisory authority engagement. We regularly assist with AI governance strategies and cybersecurity matters.

“Digital transformation touches every part of a modern business. Our role is to make that transformation legally sound and commercially sustainable by turning complex regulation into clear, actionable advice.”

Elin Holm

Senior Associate

The practice is led by Marc Tullgren and Elin Holm, who bring deep expertise in IT agreements, data protection and the evolving regulation of AI and cybersecurity. Drawing on Ascente's one-team philosophy, our IT/Tech and Data Protection specialists work closely with colleagues in Commercial Contracts, Intellectual Property, M&A and Life Science to deliver integrated advice. This cross-practice approach ensures our clients receive commercially grounded guidance, regardless of how many legal disciplines a matter involves.

Many of our IT and data protection mandates entail cross-border elements, including multi-jurisdictional data transfers, international outsourcing arrangements and group-wide compliance programmes under EU frameworks such as the GDPR, NIS2 and the AI Act. We regularly advise international companies operating in Sweden, as well as Swedish businesses expanding digitally or physically into new markets. This international dimension is central to how we approach every engagement.
